Pagan Pride Parade – is a free street-based public event.. where all the pagans, witches, wizards, druids, new agers and ordinary pagan folks come together …to celebrate their path…with a flamboyant parade. Previously organised by Jeanette Ellis for 13 years as part of Beltane Bash.

Now being organised by The Atlantis Bookshop for the 3rd year. *Police escort provided*

All welcome to the annual `Pagan Pride Parade’ in London.
Sunday 2nd June 2013. Gather outside the entrance of Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, Holborn, London (nearest tube: Holborn – Piccadilly Line). Meet-up 12 noon.

Wear pagan costumes, masks, bring drums & portable musical instruments, bring banners to carry …either about Pagnism or about your own pagan groups..

How to do Eclipse Magic- a 10 min video

If you are a magician, Wiccan, Witch, Wizard, Druid or a pagan who practises magical works at full moons or new moons, well..here’s an even more powerful an opportunity to undertake deeper magical works! In the video above,  made last year, I explain  what eclipse magic is, and some immediate `magical works’ anyone can do at this Eclipse..  to tap into the esoteric energies of it…and use it for personal, psychic or magical developments..  (If nothing else, think of it as a new moon in Taurus! )

Just to clarify- We’re about to have a Solar Eclipse within the next 24 hours (just after midnight in UK on Friday ).. where the `new moon’  will be blocking out the Sun..but not fully. The moon is relatively `smaller’ than the Sun this time ..so a ring of fire of the edge of the Sun will be visible.. (not to be seen by naked eye for safety reasons ofcourse).

Although this one (in Taurus) can not be seen by people in some parts of the World, it’s long term influence will be upon everyone..

This by the way is the 2nd of the traditional Eclipse pair – that is to say, we have already had a lunar eclipse 2 weeks ago so here is the Solar Eclipse.

BUT here’s the big think..  we will be having another (Penumbral) Lunar Eclipse in another 2 weeks time.. Penumbral..  but still an Eclipse of the (Sagittarian) full moon..on 25th May..

So You can start some magical works now..(10th May) .and carry it to conclusion on the 25th May..

So go on..  Stellar Engineer your life..   !

It’s tonight..  the first of a triple Eclipse set…taking place this April to May 2013.   So here are the actual data …of what times these Eclipses are taking place..  and more explanation graphics I’ve just created..

Editor’s Letter:

There’s just 1 day to go before the annual International Earth Day’.. and we have pulled together a variety of useful features to mark this event. And we are organising one or two of our own Gaian Times Earth Day Events – a Family picnic with focus on activities for young children, and then a meditative walk in Richmond park (the following day) – anyone wanting quiet time to tune into the energies of the Earth.

So how do you think of Earth day, and mark it? Those serious about caring for our Earth and Environment will tell you.. every day should be Earth Day. But on Earth Day, we can make a big song and dance about it and promote Earth & Eco-Awareness to the others who don’t think so much about the Earth.

To me personally, at least now, the focus for Earth Day shifts …more towards the Earth i self. I believe in the Gaia deity of the Earth, and I do what I can through out the year – so for Earth Day nowadays, I think of it as `my mother Earth’s Birthday’! We don’t quite know when it was formed all those billions of years ago, but it does us and Earth well to give her a birthday and celebrate it.

On to the other contents of this magazine then-

Few weeks ago, Margaret Thatcher – first female Prime Minister of UK (3 decades ago now) passed away, and her funeral was a few days ago. There has been much supportive and highly aggressive reactions to her death – from people. My own feelings have been that anyone who is dead now deserves their peace and to be left alone. The protestors have had almost 2 decades to make their feelings known (while she was alive) so now seems a rather distasteful time to start organising street parties in London to mark her death.

Rose Dixon has written a wonderful analytical feature article comparing the intense rites of Passages that both Margaret Thatcher and Princess Diana have gone through in their living years.

I finally get to address my concerns and thoughts about the Future of Paganism (nature worshiping religions) in `Paganism in the 25th Century’ part 1).

Vathani looks into the ant-social behaviour of people that is on the increase in our London public trains and buses – and asks how this can be in a world that is becoming more focused on `Social Media’ and `connecting and sharing’ with one another (almost 1 Billion people out of the 8 Billion of world population is on one Social Media site!)

This year, we are publishing 3 Gaian Times magazines.. simply because all our workloads in other writing and publishing projects are getting rather too much.

But we will be focusing more on the various Gaian Times Enterprises & Social Initiatives! You can read about these in our main pages (www.GaianTimes.com) Free websites for start-up pagan entrepreneurs, ePublishing, some Fundraising, and even a new initiative about sharing the wisdom of Elderly People are all going to get much mote focus..

As for reading.. you now have to subscribe to get full access to the Magazine. Well, it gives you – amongst other things- a real sense of exclusivity. And for us, it makes it easier to start making better connections with our loyal readers…and give more !

Psychic Development: Energy & Meditative work with Trees

The most basic of energy work involves this very simple but highly beneficial energy work. The aim is to seek the help of a living tree and its own ways, to align ourselves with the energy of the earth.

Initially this exercise should be done outdoors, in the presence of an actual tree. And then periodically there, or in the presence of other wonderful trees you find. Once used to it, this exercise can be done indoors or anywhere , using just the imagery.

Preparation

1. Take a walk in the park or your local woods. Spend at least 30-60 minutes just walking and enjoying the feel of being outdoors in nature. Pick a location that is quite, where there is very little chance of you being disturbed. These days anywhere on the world is hardly sound-free. Nearby cars, flying aeroplanes in the sky, occasional people walking by (at times with their mobile phones, talking loud). So spend time looking for a near-quiet location.

2. Find a large tree (large one is better to start with, like an Oak tree that’s a few hundred years old!). Explore its vicinity, and make sure you `feel’ comfortable. In your silent way, greet the tree, and tell it that you are going to do some energy work with it, and seek it’s `permission’. Sometimes, even when all seems well, there may be a sense of uneasiness. This is probably the local energy or even possible that the tree is `deterring’ you. If this is the case, continue exploring the woods, and find another tree that is comfortable. (remember to find a `living tree’ for the first time!)

3. Its good practice to tidy up the area! Take out any rubbish and put in a bag (which you can take away and put in a bin!). Pick out glass pieces etc. The of course, you can place a small sheet or cloth at the base of the tree to sit on.

4. Take away all things that hinder you (loosen your cloths, belt; empty too many objects from your pockets and place in a secure bag to keep nearby, but not on you. Remember all objects have an energy, and some distort other energies. For this work, you need to focus on you and the tree. All else is `3rd party’ which may affect the work).

5. Be seated very close to the base of the tree, with your back firmly leaning against the trunk/ base of the tree.

Energy work for the Tree Exercise

1. Close your eyes and relax. Take many deep breaths and let it go. Do the basics of meditation preparations we described previously.

2. Begin to visualise your own aura – a bubble of energy that is surrounding you. Now also begin to visualise the aura of the tree – which is going to be a huge bubble around it. By this token, its clear that you are already inside the aura field of the tree.

3. Let your own aura slowly mingle with the tree’s aura. Let both auras slowly permeate one another. Imagine you are breathing in the oxygen that the tree is producing through photosynthesis, and breath out carbon dioxide and water vapour. Imagine the tree is taking these in to use for its photosynthesis, and in turn producing oxygen.

4. The next stage will be to start focusing on your own body. Visualise small roots sprouting from the back of your spine, where it’s touching the base of the tree. Consciously by an act of magical will, `grow’ these root from your sine; let them gently penetrate the soil below, and dig deep. Let these roots grow, branch out and go deeper in to the earth. With these roots, seek out the energies of the earth, deep below. Visualise the deep energies of the earth being drawn up through your own `roots’ back into your body. Allow your self to be filled and nourished by this earth-energy. Stay with this visualisation for as long as you need.

5. You can now begin to visualise small branches sprouting from your arms, neck, head and shoulders and reaching upwards. Visualise these tiny branches growing leaves and facing the Sun’s light.

6. Reach a state of visualisation, where you have slowly transformed into a tree- your roots deep into the earth, drawing in energy, while your `branches and leaves’ grow upwards to the sky towards the Sun, to draw the solar energy in!

7. Let these energies of Earth & Sun permeate, circulate and percolate within you.

8. When you feel your work is complete, slowly `retract’ the leaves and branches back within you; Then retract the roots within you. Then focus on the auras of your body and the tree. Slowly separate the two. Be aware of your own auric bubble.

9. Open your eyes. Take a moment to adjust to the sights and sounds around you. Thank the tree for its company and help! Have a sip of water. Stand up and stretch for a little. And return to your home, or continue exploring the woods!

10. When you have done this one or twice in the presence of an actual tree in a park, home or woods, it is easier to do the same visualisation of you transforming your self into a living `tree’ anywhere, whenever you need to have a strong connection to the Earth and Sun.

Phoenix Magic – dreams, thoughts and warnings!

Few weeks ago, I had a dream.. of an ordinary bird in a cage.. that was stuck in a stuffy room… and dying!  I took the cage (and bird) and left it out in the sun. But later when I checked, the bird looked dead.. and feared it was over exposed to the heat of the Sun! I brought it indoors, and tried reviving the bird by carefully blowing small bursts of air into it’s open beak! And it recovered and stood up..   Now the Dream analysts amongst you will no doubt easily work out much about the mind-set I was in 3 weeks ago by working out aspects of this dream.  (It was few weeks ago.. I’ve moved on now :-)

Apart from the symbolisms of being stuck by life’s confinements, there is another message here.. that of the bird needing air, getting it..but over exposure to life giving energies of the Sun..and almost dying..and being revived. And of course me and the bird are one.. (or so Psychologists will say, when pulling apart such dreams). It took me a few hours after waking, to suddenly get the insight..  It was the Phoenix of course.   And I have only been using that as a username or online identity for a decade or so..  So in a round about way, the bird and it’s journey and revival is also about me.. which ever way you look at it.

So that brings me to Phoenix magic!

I have been doing various forms of dragon-magic for nearly 16-17 years, but started Phoenix magical work about 10 years ago..  as part of some angelic magical work (Arch angels) in a then-coven environment.  At the time, my magic involved invoking the phoenix energy for financial security. But looking back on it, it’s clear..   The few years that followed saw me first loosing the job I was in..  (earning less that £12,000 per year), doing all sorts of voluntary work (Events Organising for Pagan Federation’s London District)..  and eventually getting a Project Manager job in a Charity that gave me almost £25,000 per year!

This sort of thing has happened again..  whenever I have done any sort of Phoenix magic..  Things that are targeted for magical work (areas of life) initially crumble almost all the way to the ground level..  life seems bleak..   and then out of that emerges a newer stronger way of life!

And I seem to be in one of those regeneration phases currently.. and the dream merely confirmed it few weeks ago.

Warning:

So my advise for anyone wanting to dabble in any kind of Phoenix magic – really, truly, beware of where your life is at…and that things will get drastically bleak.. first ..before improvements can be seen. It won;t just happen over night either. It may take anything from 3-4 months to even 2-3 years!!   I can not stress these points hard enough.

Astrology

By the way, in astrology, this death & rebirth / transformation is governed by the planet Pluto (and major transits to the sign Scorpio). We currently are in the middle of a 4 year period where the harsh aspect of Pluto-square-Uranus is taking place …in total 7 times, between 2012 to 2015. (link to that blog here).  So whether we like it or not..  the whole world is under that transformative influence..  (we’ve had that aspect twice last year.. and it will happen twice this year in 2013..  in May and in early November…so be warned).

Tarot

In tarot, the death and rebirth transformation is symbolised by the Tower card – where the divine light(ening) strikes the top, and Tower falls..  so that using its components, a newer better one may be built.

Dark World of Pagans, Wiccans and Wizards… (words of wisdom for new commers)

darkLight- art~Mani NAlmost 2 decades ago, when I ventured slowly into the world of western pagans, Witches, wiccans and wizards..  little did I know that they are as human and fallible ..as I am.

Having come from a Hindu religious background, and then lost my faith a little (after the sudden and accidental  death of my father), I was drifting in life..  failing university exams, becoming a recluse with very few real friends..

I had always been interested in mind powers and psychic matters (dabbling with self-hypnosis, biorhythm, reading about telepathy, and telekinesis). So much so, that in A/Level, when I did so well in my Physics, I got a book voucher and the book I bought (handed to me officially in School assembly) was on Mind powers. I remember the Head Teacher startled and doing a double-take on the book before shaking my hand and handing it to me.

So after my father’s death, through some coincidences with friends and pen pals (in America..  they were the early pre-www world if telnetting and writing real letters!), I came across Runes, book in the garage in Egyptian mummifications..and into the `Body, Mind, Spirit’ world in London.

Those early conventions gave me a different impression.  That everyone in it was so full of love, and unconditional friendship, trust etc. Then over time, I came into the Pagan world… And there too, I held the same beliefs..  because everyone in it talked about `coming home’ and how we are all the same, and magical..

In those early days, my High Priestess Laura and I had many a discussions..  on what it is to have perfect love, perfect trust …in Wiccan circles.  And it is there that she broke my innocent bubble one day and told me that Pagans are people too.. and have their own flaws and prejudices.

I think ..though I heard her, and knew it intellectually, I did not understand it emotionally..

But over the years, I have learnt otherwise.

This world of Pagans, Wiccans, Witches, Shamans, Wizards, Dragon-Riders, Fairy-Dusters… and Broom-Flyers..  are just ordinary people..  and sadly, despite the highest ideals of perfect love and perfect trust, and a love for the Earth and Gods and Goddesses,..   there is also much darkness..

Darkness in itself is not a crime..   I am referring to deeper human emotions..  anger, frustrations, jealously, envy, power seeking, colluding, controlling, betraying, scapegoating, ego-driven, holier-than-thou..and all the other `warts’..

No it is not a crime.. but what is…is that so many wounded pagans, wiccans and Wizards ..are unaware of their own flaws and humanity..  and that they are actually acting on those impulses..  Instead some pagans seem to project their own darker sides and qualities (shadow functions) on to others.

I have even witnessed the pack mentality within some wiccan groups, pagan communities & Organisations, and ritual groups, not to mention bullying behaviour.. where small things are taken out of context, and acted upon and reactions snow-balled..  mole hills turning to mountains..and before you know it, hearts are broken, reputations are destroyed, and worse, people who `came home’ are left feeling `homeless..’ and ostracized from the very community they belonged to.  These `rejected’ people can feel abandoned, bereft, extremely depressed, suicidal, and their lives can unravel disastrously. (That happens to anyone in an inclusive `love and light’ society where suddenly that person is excluded! )

As people work magically with powerful forces – elements, gods, goddesses, nature spirits, archangels..and so on.. and work to build communities, organisations, groups.. and memberships.. (such vastly magnificent goals and ideals)..  what they tend to forget ..is that at the heart of it all..  is the human element..  !  It’s akin to driving at 80 mph in the fast motorways (Highways) for hours ..and then struggling to adjust to the 20 mph speed limit in urban streets.  If no care is taken, and same speed is observed, an innocent in the street could get hurt.   And once the harm is done, it can not be undone. Neither human nor the divine ever forgets! Bad karma piles up..

My advise to anyone new venturing into Pagan, Esoteric or magical communities (and I am part of this community..) is to be sensible, careful, and …while keeping to high magical or divine ideals, also keep an open mind..and your feet firmly on the ground.

The Pagan Community is just like any other community..   Completely and utterly…human.!   Remember that, and all will go well..

Astrology Charts & graphics for Solar & Lunar Eclipses of April & May 2013

It’s a Triple Eclipse period!  Normally Eclipses occur in pairs..  one Solar and one lunar…but once in a while, there may be a third one.. (it’s to do with the orbits, geometry and the lunar nodes.. )

Well, we have a Full Moon (lunar) partial eclipse on 25th April 2013, then a Solar eclipse on 10th May 2013, and another Full Moon (penumbral lunar) Eclipse on 25th May’13.

I’ve created Astrology charts for all 3 of them, so you can see where the planets will be on those specific days..

I’ll be writing more on how and who are affected by these Eclipses, and if you do know your own birth chart / planetary positions, – how you can work out if any parts of your life will be severely affected!!

Sanctuary of the Goddess (Visionary art & ideals)

Sanctuary of the Goddess…  What and where is the Sanctuary of the Goddess?  It’s global and yet within us. A true belief..and an ideal.. for each and every pagan, magician, spiritualist.. seeking the comfort, solace, beauty and nurturing arms of the Great Mother Goddess…who is known by many names..Gaia, Isis, Aphrodite, Artemis, Shakthi, Freya, Tara.. and more..

I was inspired to spontaneously create this open facebook group a month ago..   I guess I am just following an idea, an ideal..? a thought..or even a feeling .That’s all I know…  The name has come to be, so now…where it may go is up to all those who join and contribute..

The art work for it began with the `Arc of Isis../ Dark Isis ‘ (link is here if you want to see that).  . But now I’ve had some more inspiration to do more art.. and what I have used are photos I had personally taken..of places in London, Croydon (Coombe woods), Hasting, Avebury, Scotland, and of course the cave from Cornwall. .

Feel free to praise, promote and honor the Goddess in any of her forms.. Art, creative expressions, poetry are welcome.. as are open honest deep explorations and discussions. Conflicts are okay as long as those involved are brave enough to stay and go deep.. rather than mud-sling and run. Provocations and antagonism are discouraged..if it is aimed at people. Harmony is much valued.

Imagine your place of tranquility.. Express your creativity.. and share your beauty within.

And here is the second art work..  which is a variation on the theme..  Enjoy.. and let your mind wander to these peaceful realms..  It’s out there in the astral already..
