The world is reeling with thousands of deaths as a result of the current Corona Virus pandemic. No one is beyond reach of this virus.. Every aware human is facing this fear of death! Scientists & Health service professionals are beyond busy – doing their best to save lives and stop this pandemic. Many nations are in lock down to stop the spread of the virus. So what are we …Pagan priests & priestesses doing to help? Are we any good to anyone if we feel crippled by our own fears, shadows and the dark that’s lurking in human collective at the moment..? I have some reflections on these matters..and what we Priests & Priestesses should be doing! -Mani
Hi all.. Horns & Antlers are a power symbol in nature for many animals.. and used for protection. It’s not just sported by male animals.. The deer may only have males (stags) having elaborate Antlers.. but Cows, goats, sheep, Bulls..
also have horns..
In pagan spirituality, we honour and worship many horned God figures.. (Herne, Pan, cernunnos).. but few horned/ antlered Goddesses are seen.. (Elena, Baast).
I saw the art work that my friend posted on facebook ..(of a Horned Goddess image)..and it reminded me of my long term wish to create some new photographic images of Horned Goddess..
As you can see from attached pics, I’ve worn Antlers many times over the past 13-14 years ..(since my eh.. obsession(!) with Hern the Hunter started ..resulting in the founding of woodland ritual shamanic group Hern’s Tribe in 2004). But what I really like is to do now is build up plenty of images of women in Antlers & Horns..! So.. am hereby launching this project!
So what am I looking for?
1. Ladies who are interested in being `Horned Goddesses’
(ie dress up, put make up, wear costumes, shamanic props..and pose for photos in natural settings.. woodland..parks..riversides.. hills.. forts.. neolithic sites.. by castles..caves…etc).
–Age/ acting ability – all welcome.
–Magical/Pagan? – nope.. if you are happy to pose as Antlered Goddesses..then am not complaining. ..as long as you can take artistic directions.
2. Crew / Team of creative people – to get involved and help me co-create this. I have a vision..but need help. Make up artists, costume creators / lenders, prop-makers, drivers with cars, supporters! Location scouts..
3. Costs – let’s be creative and innovative..and keep costs to minimum.. Everyone involved can come out of this project with brilliant works for their portfolios, experiences. Unless we have someone who can be a generous Benefactor, or unless we set up a crowdfunder to cover costs.. we just have to cover our own expenses, own travel cards. Only exception will be if I drive out, then i can take 3 people (essential to that shoot) in my car.. (Crowd funding, some 2018 calendar sales are all possibilities.. but I like to get started with shoots soon).
While some planning/ development is needed, am not one for delaying this any longer.. Of course it will be ongoing throughout Autumn/ Winter and into Spring/Summer of 2018..but it starts NOW! 🙂 Let’s aim to get some of this done..in Autumn.. before all the leaves change colour and drop.. 🙂
If you are working with me..then be ready to run with the Horses & Stags.. or plod on with the Turtles.. My policy is …`shoot fast..and think later’ :-p
So don’t think too much.. Follow your intuition/ gut.. and jump in ..if interested..!
Reply to this message and I’ll start coordinating..or send me a private message ..or to one of my pagan `pages’ and we’ll take it from there.
Bright Earthy Blessings
ps. I posted this on my facebook wall on 5th October 2017. It’s been a while but have been getting 15+ interested people/ ladies already. So it’s time to plan further.
Contact me by sending me a message using form below please so I can communicate directly with you via e-mails etc. You have to be able to get to London or nearby so I can get to you..(1-2 hrs by car).
This is a special Full moon Ritual, scheduled to tap into the energy of partial Lunar Eclipse of 7th August 2017.
(please note: previously there was a workshop scheduled but it has been now changed to a ritual).
No previous experience of Eclipse magical working necessary. Eclipse Magic rituals are quite unique and separate ..and use practical tools (some modern ones such as a plasma-wand), astrological symbols/ names, some transpersonal work and magical visualisations. These are all uniquely explored by Mani for many years (almost 20 years).
• Date: Monday 7th August 2017
* this is the evening of the Full Moon/ partial Lunar Eclipse. We will be setting some specific intentions to work the energies of the coming partial lunar Eclipse (in Aquarius).
useful astronomical data (from NASA):
• Penumbral Eclipse duration : from 16:50hrs to 21:50hrs (BST). Umbral eclipse duration: 18:22hrs to 20:18hrs (BST). Greatest Eclipse is at 19:20hrs BST. Ecliptic conjunction : 19:11hrs BST.
• Lowest tide: 21:20hrs (0.7m). [from Port of London site].
Your personal work (suggested 7pm – 7.20pm)—————- :
Those interested in catching/attuning to the moment of `greatest Eclipse’ may wish to arrive early..find a quiet spot and do your own personal meditative work. You may also be able to find a quiet spot by river.. though if it’ a very sunny warm day.. other Londoners will be out and about by Thames…! As long as you personally are able to sit and ignore outside noise/ distractions..you can attune within. I suggest you aim for personal meditative work between 7.00pm – 7:20pm.
Our group work (scheduled 7.30pm to 10pm) ——————-
• 7.30pm- 7.45pm : Meeting outside main entrance (seats) by Tate Modern Gallery
• 7.45pm- 8.15pm : Go down to Thames & help set up altar area.
• 8.15pm – 9.50pm : Main ceremony (leading into feasting/ social). – This will be the formal wicca circle set up and held on the river banks. It will still be taking place within the penumbral duration of the Eclipse.
• 10pm- 10.30pm : Socialising back at top – the Green grass area at front of Tate Modern Gallery.
The stellar forces of Eclipses are comparable to chaotic stormy seas – and knowing when Eclipses take place and what types of personal magic you can do, enables you to tap into those powers to accelerate, course-correct, enhance and empower your life!
Every Year there are at least 2 pairs of Eclipses (Solar & Lunar) – which means you can do Eclipse Magical works 4 or more times in a year! Some works can be done with only 5 minutes of effort, and others take a few weeks or even a few months of preparation. But all create intense changes over longer periods of time in your life.
This innovative, easy to use e-book gives full introductions to the Science, Astronomy, Astrology, Esoterica & Magical core concepts useful to all who like to experiment with Eclipse Magical Techniques. Mani Navasothy has been personally exploring these for over 15 years, and is now sharing his own secret techniques of using Stellar energies for Balancing, Cleansing, Powering Up, as well as the highly specialist methods of using Dragon Magic & Portals and Cosmic Gateways.

Are you getting aggressive in relationships? Social situations…in the company of certain people? Here are some thoughts.. that might help you.. (cos we all like someone else to say, `it’s okay’ to us sometimes) 🙂
Passion is one thing.. but when some people are eliciting certain aggressions in you ..more often than not.. there are possibly two and only two things at play –
a) it’s stirring your shadows..
b) they are neither like-minded nor compatible with you.
So what’s this stirring shadow business? Well, the actions or statements those people make are making you angry, because it’s a suppressed part of you.. and rather than accept that `dark’ area in you, it’s easier to get angry at or even hate that other person!
One way forward is to look deeper at your self.. privately…just you, yourself and you! And admit (at the very least) those issues and suppressions you have…and figure out a way to deal with it.. either let loose (if it’s not harming anyone), integrate into conscious mind, seek external support/ therapy etc.
Now if you are not ready to work on your Shadows, that’s your prerogative.. Dealing with it in your own time is fine and don’t let others force you into a schedule or an agenda! (That’s just bound to get you worked up even more ..right? )
But ask the question, if it is more about the not being like-minded or incompatibility, and you are always having to compromise or worse sacrifice your own needs/wants, (which would just create inner resentment and builds up aggression).. why put up with a thorn in your paw..? (ie why keep that person(s) in your life? That is just masochism..! It’s even possibly linked to all sorts of low-self-worth issues, self-esteem, lack of confidence, disempowered states, co-dependency and such.. (all very deep and complex areas…and deserve more exploration than a few lines here..!)
Just take out the thorn from your paw, and get on with a peaceful life!!
Almost 2 decades ago, when I ventured slowly into the world of western pagans, Witches, wiccans and wizards.. little did I know that they are as human and fallible ..as I am.
Having come from a Hindu religious background, and then lost my faith a little (after the sudden and accidental death of my father), I was drifting in life.. failing university exams, becoming a recluse with very few real friends..
I had always been interested in mind powers and psychic matters (dabbling with self-hypnosis, biorhythm, reading about telepathy, and telekinesis). So much so, that in A/Level, when I did so well in my Physics, I got a book voucher and the book I bought (handed to me officially in School assembly) was on Mind powers. I remember the Head Teacher startled and doing a double-take on the book before shaking my hand and handing it to me.
So after my father’s death, through some coincidences with friends and pen pals (in America.. they were the early pre-www world if telnetting and writing real letters!), I came across Runes, book in the garage in Egyptian mummifications..and into the `Body, Mind, Spirit’ world in London.
Those early conventions gave me a different impression. That everyone in it was so full of love, and unconditional friendship, trust etc. Then over time, I came into the Pagan world… And there too, I held the same beliefs.. because everyone in it talked about `coming home’ and how we are all the same, and magical..
In those early days, my High Priestess Laura and I had many a discussions.. on what it is to have perfect love, perfect trust …in Wiccan circles. And it is there that she broke my innocent bubble one day and told me that Pagans are people too.. and have their own flaws and prejudices.
I think ..though I heard her, and knew it intellectually, I did not understand it emotionally..
But over the years, I have learnt otherwise.
This world of Pagans, Wiccans, Witches, Shamans, Wizards, Dragon-Riders, Fairy-Dusters… and Broom-Flyers.. are just ordinary people.. and sadly, despite the highest ideals of perfect love and perfect trust, and a love for the Earth and Gods and Goddesses,.. there is also much darkness..
Darkness in itself is not a crime.. I am referring to deeper human emotions.. anger, frustrations, jealously, envy, power seeking, colluding, controlling, betraying, scapegoating, ego-driven, holier-than-thou..and all the other `warts’..
No it is not a crime.. but what is…is that so many wounded pagans, wiccans and Wizards ..are unaware of their own flaws and humanity.. and that they are actually acting on those impulses.. Instead some pagans seem to project their own darker sides and qualities (shadow functions) on to others.
I have even witnessed the pack mentality within some wiccan groups, pagan communities & Organisations, and ritual groups, not to mention bullying behaviour.. where small things are taken out of context, and acted upon and reactions snow-balled.. mole hills turning to mountains..and before you know it, hearts are broken, reputations are destroyed, and worse, people who `came home’ are left feeling `homeless..’ and ostracized from the very community they belonged to. These `rejected’ people can feel abandoned, bereft, extremely depressed, suicidal, and their lives can unravel disastrously. (That happens to anyone in an inclusive `love and light’ society where suddenly that person is excluded! )
As people work magically with powerful forces – elements, gods, goddesses, nature spirits, archangels..and so on.. and work to build communities, organisations, groups.. and memberships.. (such vastly magnificent goals and ideals).. what they tend to forget ..is that at the heart of it all.. is the human element.. ! It’s akin to driving at 80 mph in the fast motorways (Highways) for hours ..and then struggling to adjust to the 20 mph speed limit in urban streets. If no care is taken, and same speed is observed, an innocent in the street could get hurt. And once the harm is done, it can not be undone. Neither human nor the divine ever forgets! Bad karma piles up..
My advise to anyone new venturing into Pagan, Esoteric or magical communities (and I am part of this community..) is to be sensible, careful, and …while keeping to high magical or divine ideals, also keep an open mind..and your feet firmly on the ground.
The Pagan Community is just like any other community.. Completely and utterly…human.! Remember that, and all will go well..
Debate this:ps.This may seem like a very negative post – but just as my High Priestess offered me that advise all those years ago, I now offer it to others – having arrived at same wisdom through my own life’s ways. While many pagans may shy away from such topics, for fear of it showing (our) pagan community in bad light, I am happy to debate these matters further f0r the sake of learning, sharing and growth (but please no abusive or bullying comments!)
Hern is dead? Is it possible to kill a God? ..assuming that Hern or Herne IS actually a god! Some consider `him’ to be a shaman-figure, others think he was a Hunter / Games Keeper in the services of the King of England (a long time ago) who hunted in the realms of Windsor Great park. There are stories of `Hern sighting’ in Windsor to this day.
Only a few years ago, when I was being walked off Windsor park by the Queen’s Park Keepers, after 3 friends and I had been camping out there on one Samhain (Halloween) night, one of the Park Keeprs said he had heard of a sighting. (They were probing us as to why we had stayed there over-night, and I had explained that we worship Hern and were honouring him on Samhain by being there!)
Well, I first properly came across the figure (not literally) when I was watching the now famous `Robin of Sherwood’ TV program about 25 years ago. But it was only in 2004 that I actually started `worshiping’ Hern as a God-form. (so yes, he is a god to me). And yes, for some reason, I have always refered to him as `Hern’ and not `Herne’ (no `e’). At that point in my life, I was quite low emotionally and feeling rejected (well, I had been) and disempowered, and sort of fell into Hern-worship. So much so that I eventually started an outdoor Ritual & shamanic pagan group in London – called `Hern’s Tribe’ .. which is now possibly quite well known (though people may not know what, where or how it operates, unless they actually attend!)
So, getting back to `Hern is dead’. What is that all about, you ask?
I have been making a Hern – a woody figure made of pieces & off-cuts of Willow branches in my garden. I think it must be over 2 years old. And quite recently I have had the thought to burn it down fully. (I have a habit of burning away old magical tools – wands, talismans, charms, artefacts that I had created.. I feel it releases tied up energy, stagnant energy and unwanted energies.. so that I am free to create new magical artefacts again. It’s not like someone is going to want to keep my old magical artefacts in a museum now is it ? well, few close loved ones think it should… but that is not how I see it. As magicians, we strive to be empowered, and though we may start by attaching our beliefs and power to objects- ultimately it is about taking those powers within, and be free from external objects. It is a sort of power-integration within! And that is my path, something I am keen to write about and teach eventually).
So, the Hern figure in the garden., Well, after a trip to Windsor great park, to do some much needed personal magical work with Hern-energy, I got home and a day later took the `head’ of the outdoor Hern sculpture (as tall as me..no, taller!) and ritually burnt it.
We hear of the phrase, `All that dies shall be reborn, all that falls shall rise again’ in Wiccan coven circles as part of a chant. Well, in order for that process to happen, things must die, things must fall. (Ideally doing that around Lammas – time of Harvest and the sacrificial Corn-King is best. But the fall can happen any time in the scope of a magician’s life).
So though it may be horrifying for some, I have no major concerns about such personal activities – destroying magical artefacts – provided I then go off and create new ones!! And that is what I have done, more or less over the following day.
So although the old head of Hern is dead and burnt, there is now a new one.. a far better one in fact – as this one now has real set of antlers or two, and he has a better body (from a new batch of Willow tree prunning).
It is a bit like the saying, `King is dead, Long live the King,’ – meaning that when an old one dies, a new one becomes King.
There is so much to say on the matter of Hern worship, and of empowering. There is so much dis-empowering in the world – and am sad to say I see so much of that within the pagan communities. Yes, people can have all sorts of explanations, but people forget that other peopl do have `real’ psychic sensing…and not just `a feel’ or intuitive thinking. Some of us actually `sense’ energy with our bodies…and at times it’s bloody painful…chest aches, blocked chakras, head-aches, tingling foreheads & ticklish necks…buzzing backs.. ! I suppose that is for people who are `sensates’ – one type of psychic people who pick up psychic energies physically, rather than visually, audibly, intuitively or emphatically( am that too, and that can be a pain.. especially when loved ones are going through tough times…miles away and their states affect me).
So point I make.. yes there is a quite a lot of dis-empowering in the community..and pagan communities are no exceptions. And me burning Hern has a purpose. What with all the Pluto-square-Uranus transits going on, these are the days of death, rebirth and transformations for us all.. and as one late High Priestess once said to me, I seem to live magical things harshly first, before I teach it to others.
With that old Hern-head, burnt, a part of me is also dead. But with a new antlered Head and filled body of Hern reconstructed, my magic undergoes similar transformation. It’s image magic.. poppets and blood..and bones.. on a larger scale.
Hern is dead. Long Live Hern!
Deep Earthy Blessings…and `May Hern protect us!’
ps. My long awaited book `Book of Hern: Magical pathways for personal Empowerment’ is being published on 21st December 2012 – on Winter Solstice day..longest night, when hope is reborn! Keep an eye on my website Hern’s Tribefor updates.
Hi readers, I got to thinking, that for a guy who tags a number of blogs under Wicca & Witchcraft – and specifically the psychology, I haven’t really said much on those subjects…and yet, it’s those very realms that my everyday mind is occupied with. I found this write-up I had done for one of the modules of the e-Witch Apprentice course. -Mani
We each have an inner-child within us. It is a permanent psychological aspect of each one of us that stays with us forever. The inner child stems from our own childhood days and experiences, and he/ she does not grow! People may think that because it’s a `child’ within us, he/ she is powerless, and harmless. This is true on some level, but not in the way many of us think!
As with any child on this planet, an inner child is powerless – to fend for him/ herself, and protect him/ herself. But an inner-child is not to be under-estimated as one having no power. On the contrary, our inner-child has more power `over’ us than any other being on the planet! The personality and character of the inner-child can at times over-whelming and all-consuming! The whims and tantrums that our inner-child throws can quite easily take over us and control our actions and emotions. Effectively, it’s as if the Inner-child is the driver of the adult-person!!
Our needs for security, for love, for warmth, food – and for our mothers all stem from the Inner-child in us. And so does our need and want for play! And what’s more, our very creativity stems from the inner-child.
The inner-child does not care about time-tables, schedules, work-loads, deadlines, career progressions, relationships (except one with `The mother’), honour, commitment, altruism or ideals. He or she just is – pure need, pure base emotions, and pure joy! Eat, drink, sleep & play are his or her only modes, and the inner-child does not even have self-awareness, or self-identification. He or she is a pure creature of nature!!
One of the major aspects that govern an inner child is that he/ she – just like any child – has an identity liked and intertwined with the Mother. When his or her needs are met, he / she is happy and engages in play, and when those needs return, he/ she instinctively wants/ needs and seeks The Mother. And if the mother engages and fulfils those needs (food, company, warmth, affection), then the Mother is `seen’ as `Good Mother’. And if the mother does not seem to be fulfilling those needs – when the inner-child wants it (prompt), then the Mother is seen as `bad Mother’.
Mothers can quite quickly go from being `good mother’ to bad mother’ – in seconds, depending on how they did or did not fulfil the inner-child. And of course, if one person is fulfilling the inner-child, then that person – male or female `becomes’ the `good mother’, and elsewhere, another person who did not fulfil the needs of the Inner-child becomes `bad-mother’.
These psychological constructs are projected into our everyday interactions and relationships. It is not the scope of this brief introduction to go into details, but needless to say, how we as adults relate to people, leaders, authority figures, lovers, spouses, and even our Gods & Goddesses – are all so intricately tied into the Inner-child.
Knowing `thy self’ is a process, by which, we learn to separate the needs and whims of the inner child away from our `adult’ self, as well as other key considerations (projections, shadows, anima/ animus etc).
In this e-witch Course, we include various practical work and exercises – some of which may seem bizarre and `childish’. However they are not designed for you the adult – and they are aimed at your inner-child!! For we have learnt through much study, counselling and personal magical experiences – that creativity and true magic flows from the purest of all humans – the child in us!
It is the responsibility of us – the grown-up adults, to become the `good mother’ to our own inner-children, and care, comfort and protect. When those are taken care of, and when we let ourselves play freely, we begin to tap into primal forces of magic!!
