Everything living has a survival instinct..and when a moment comes – to be killed or be killed, each must make a choice. That’s just biology. I also believe in the Collective unconscious, where all the minds are linked.. And that when we humans don’t deal with our emotions, repress them, we sink those shadows deep into the collective..adding to its murky waters..
It follows that every killing instinct everyone has all adds up.. every hurt person who wants to lash out at their offender.. can seek revenge by hurting back or repressing or dealing with that (process it and transform it).
Now I think that some of us are strong willed enough to sink our repressed feelings and instincts…and get on with life. But some poor sod (person) out there who has no strength of Will…but is connected to the human collective…will have a weak `flooring’ through which the repressed collection of harmful instincts will erupt out.. !!
In short, what we repress comes out in someone else.. and they become the villain…the abuser..the killer..the rapist..the murderer!
This much I have formulated/understood and believed for over a decade and a half..(since 2001 when i started learning transpersonal psychology and blending it with my own spirituality and beliefs). ps. I call this my `Volcano theory of human shadows!’ (that the visual I get).
When we are faced with such a villain, it’s easy to brand him/ her as utterly evil.. It’s humanly impossibly not to hate or vilify that person. I personally would fall for that every time.. ! We would even call that person `Evil’ . But i try to accept that…that person is only a conduit for the sum of all our own darkness and shadows!
As for Evil.. I actually don’t think there is such a thing.. shockingly!!
But there is a selfish drive in all of us..all beings..including the spirits..that were once human or animal..or were never born as such. I don’t think that dying somehow removes some of these selfish or self-preserving drives.
It is my belief now (after the last 4 years of various psychic experiences)..that the spirit world is full of creatures.. entities.. everything from ghosts of a dead worm and insects to humans..and some forces we come to call angels.. even Gods! everything wants to survive..to go on..to keep its identity. They will do this however way they see fit.. unless some altruistic feelings stop them from hurting other beings. The dead worm’s spirit will keep on trying to scour for `food’ (energy).. and that can be coming from vampiristic / leeching from humans who are living..
And the `Angels’ won’t steal from us..but try to aid.. As for Demons.. they are probably larger beings who act on their drive for energy and power ..and may temporarily `work’ to aid some humans..but in the end ..their motives are entirely self-serving.
Well..this is the grand theory/ belief I have constructed for myself over years.. and this is probably the first time I have put it all in one go..in one place.. (these exist in copious hand written notes in paper…and spill out when i give talks or workshops..in pieces)
–version 1: 11th April 2018
The above was written in answer to a friend’s question about do I believe people can be evil or who they become by following a path.
That question arose in answer to my post :
Angels & Demons in our minds and magical works:
It puzzles me.. why, when we have so many hundreds if not thousands of Godforms, Angelic forces, fairies, dragons and nature spirits.. do some people leap off and seek Devils & Demonic forces to work with?
I don’t accept the explanation that they are working with their shadows. If that’s the case, the first option is a Therapist, a counselor or a Psychiatrist!
The only explanation I can think of is…those others believe that their work with `demonic forces’ is somehow more fundamental or more powerful …than any other forms or forces..such as Gods & Angels!
Millions if not billions of people around the Globe get on with their lives, without it, and at best they call on a God or Angel…more so than a demon!
Never mind them…I myself have got this far in life.. by working with Gods and Goddess forms, and perhaps some angelic energies. When certain entities are trying to intrude, a simple `Om Shivaya’ chant has been more than enough to stop it. Perhaps it’s the Gods..perhaps its my belief in the Gods.. that gives me this advantage over unknown forces. It’s safe to say, my work will always be with the light, while I carry on illuminating my own transpersonal shadows.
Hi all.. Horns & Antlers are a power symbol in nature for many animals.. and used for protection. It’s not just sported by male animals.. The deer may only have males (stags) having elaborate Antlers.. but Cows, goats, sheep, Bulls..
also have horns..
In pagan spirituality, we honour and worship many horned God figures.. (Herne, Pan, cernunnos).. but few horned/ antlered Goddesses are seen.. (Elena, Baast).
I saw the art work that my friend posted on facebook ..(of a Horned Goddess image)..and it reminded me of my long term wish to create some new photographic images of Horned Goddess..
As you can see from attached pics, I’ve worn Antlers many times over the past 13-14 years ..(since my eh.. obsession(!) with Hern the Hunter started ..resulting in the founding of woodland ritual shamanic group Hern’s Tribe in 2004). But what I really like is to do now is build up plenty of images of women in Antlers & Horns..! So.. am hereby launching this project!
So what am I looking for?
1. Ladies who are interested in being `Horned Goddesses’
(ie dress up, put make up, wear costumes, shamanic props..and pose for photos in natural settings.. woodland..parks..riversides.. hills.. forts.. neolithic sites.. by castles..caves…etc).
–Age/ acting ability – all welcome.
–Magical/Pagan? – nope.. if you are happy to pose as Antlered Goddesses..then am not complaining. ..as long as you can take artistic directions.
2. Crew / Team of creative people – to get involved and help me co-create this. I have a vision..but need help. Make up artists, costume creators / lenders, prop-makers, drivers with cars, supporters! Location scouts..
3. Costs – let’s be creative and innovative..and keep costs to minimum.. Everyone involved can come out of this project with brilliant works for their portfolios, experiences. Unless we have someone who can be a generous Benefactor, or unless we set up a crowdfunder to cover costs.. we just have to cover our own expenses, own travel cards. Only exception will be if I drive out, then i can take 3 people (essential to that shoot) in my car.. (Crowd funding, some 2018 calendar sales are all possibilities.. but I like to get started with shoots soon).
While some planning/ development is needed, am not one for delaying this any longer.. Of course it will be ongoing throughout Autumn/ Winter and into Spring/Summer of 2018..but it starts NOW! 🙂 Let’s aim to get some of this done..in Autumn.. before all the leaves change colour and drop.. 🙂
If you are working with me..then be ready to run with the Horses & Stags.. or plod on with the Turtles.. My policy is …`shoot fast..and think later’ :-p
So don’t think too much.. Follow your intuition/ gut.. and jump in ..if interested..!
Reply to this message and I’ll start coordinating..or send me a private message ..or to one of my pagan `pages’ and we’ll take it from there.
Bright Earthy Blessings

Do you have a talisman that you have created, or a ring, or a pendant that is to serve as a special protection for yourself? Now here’s a thing- Unless the item was made by you (creatively, in a state of magical state over many hours or even days..while holding psychic focus), it is not going to be having any sort of `special powers’. The only exception is if the item was made by another Priest / Priestess/ Ritual Magician or Witch..and charged with a special intention.
One further exception will be when the item or artefact n question is simply a natural object obtained from a magical or sacred place.. say a pebble from the grounds of a Temple, a twig from a sacred site etc [Note: Do not willfully damage any part of said temple or sacred grounds for the purpose of obtaining such trinkets – for that’s what the item becomes no sooner had you obtained it in any such manner. Whatever nature spirits or divine energy therein ..is not quite going to `come with you’ if you obtained the item by stealth or by damaging the source / venue.
So how then do you obtain the material?
Well – you obtain it- as I said – from the floor, from the grounds or nearby in an unobtrusive undamaging way.. (walk around nearby woods to find a pebble or twig!) THEN take the item to the sacred place..to be cleansed and charged. This way is much better.. In this manner, you are inviting the sacred and protective energies of that place to enter into the item and charge it for you 🙂
Okay.. so you have your artefact or an item, or a ring or a pendant or a talisman (even one that is bought from a new age shop or a high street jewellery place. as they make symbols and items…!)
Now either visit a sacred place (woods, temple) or create sacred space in your room (using cleansing, then casting a circle and calling the quarters / 4 elements to be present and bear witness).
Familiarise your self with the word `Om’ (universally used by so many magical or esoteric people now all over the world.. though it originates from the Indian subcontinent, mainly from the Hindu religions). There are different ways to draw `Om’ (depending on which language you use.. either Sanskrit or Tamil. I have used the Tamil version in the photos here).
Practise making the sound `Om’ for several minutes. Even the person who has `no concept of chanting’ can practise it for few minutes, and find that their breathing gets better, deeper, and the sound coming becomes clearer, crispy..).
Also familiarise your self with the actual symbol visually.. Look at it for several minutes…and try to copy it/ draw it on a piece of paper several times to get it right. Remember that this is not just a random symbol. It is a letter (well two) from a particular language. If someone who did not know the English Alphabet were to get a few strokes or curves incorrect, say for the letter R…it is not going to be an R.. 🙂 Get the symbol correct, for its powers to manifest better.
Now begin the magical task!
1. Hold the talisman/ item that is going to be charged – in the palm of your left hand. (left hand receives)
2. Clasp it with your right palm and close it. (Right hand projects energy).
3. Close your eyes.
4. Chant `Om’ several times first (to surround your self with the divine energy it generates). Visualising the symbol `Om’ large and in front of you ..growing and glowing.
5. Now this next part is tricky. Chant (it will be quite) `Om’ with an *In-breath*, while `breathing in’ the large `Om’ symbol that has been created in front of you (It’s all visualisation, with eyes closed). This energy now fills your lungs, body, head and mind..!
6. Now, with your out-breath, propel that `Om’ energy through your hands (from your body) into the Talisman clasped inside the closed palms. You can also propel the `Om’ energy into the talisman/ item by projecting that energy out through your 3rd eye or Solar plexis chakra (or the heart chakra). A variation is…to chant the name of a particular deity in the out-breath- whereby the in-drawn energy of Om is transformed into a particular Deity energy by the very calling of that deity name.
Repeat this whole process many times!
I have personally found this to be highly effective in charging talismans or pendants..
God & Goddess names have power in themselves.. whether they do exist or not no longer matters – because for thousands of years, millions of people have believed in them and thereby have created those very powerful god & goddess thought-forms. So when using such names, you are tapping deep into such collective energies (of the archetypes).
I shall share some more tools & techniques in these blogs soon.. (It is part of a `promise’ I have made with certain deities…to share such knowledge / experiences.. – well …call it a `Calling’ 🙂
In honour of the Birthday of Goddess Isis (which was historically celebrated on 17th July), we did river Thames based a ceremony last year (2013). Here is a short video of that event which took place by Embankment, Central London (at the base of Cleopatra’s Needle!).
This year (2014) we are doing this ceremony & social by the river Thames in the Richmond area.. on saturday 19th July’14, for ease of every one to make it.
The Isis-Boat that was begun and briefly used in the Isis-Navigatum (Blessing of the Fleet) ceremony in March’14, has been developed further. It will be briefly floated in the river Thames at the end of the Ceremony.
