Tamesa (and Thames-Isis) London rituals in 2015

Greetings all.  I have finalised the dates and venues for the annual rituals I facilitate by the river Thames in this coming cycle.  Tamesa London Circle (started by April & myself in 2006) was doing 8-10 rituals a year but for the past 2 years had been focusing on Thames-Isis ceremonies (call it a Calling).

After 2 years I was thinking to conclude them (at last year’s Birthday of Isis event).  Why?  Well, working these mythology based rituals are not always easy – especially on one’s own personal life.  So many people forget that when we do magical ceremonies and rituals, those energies – both the aspects we want and the aspects we were not fully aware of- work through our lives.  (I;ll write more about this in another blog post).  So I was planning to wrap up the Thames-Isis rituals in 2014.

However, as the saying goes, Man may propose but the Gods (and Goddesses) dispose! 🙂

And so here we are..   beginning the 3rd cycle of these Isis (Thames-Isis) ceremonies, with the `Isidias Navigatum- Blessing of the Fleet’ in March, Birthday of Isis in July (on a new moon!) and the 3rd ritual (not Isis related) the `Tamesa river of Souls Samhain / Halloween’ in October (on the full moon closer to Samhain).

They all have `meetup’ events already setup in the meetup group I run. (link at the bottom of each section)..  I shall of course post blogs here as reminder, nearer to each Ceremony. These are approximately 3+ months apart.

Here are the Tamesa rituals for this year 2015.   I hope those of you in London will attend ..  to honour, worship and gain magical and spiritual experiences from these.  As my own spirituality evolves, so must the work I do and so these rituals will incorporate some new elements to them.

Bright Blessings

-Mani

1. Isidias Navigatum- Blessing of the Fleet – Isis Ritual

Sunday 1st March 2015   @ Richmond

Isidias Navigatum Blessing the Fleet ritual 2015 London
Isidias Navigatum Blessing the Fleet ritual 2015 London

This annual ceremony was held at the start of the Spring time in Ancient Egypt, to gain the blessings of Goddess Isis upon the ships and boats (Fleet) – so that they may go forth, find commerce, resources and wealth and bring them back. You will have heard the saying, `waiting for my ship to come in’ – a saying that indicates a person waiting for his /her good fortunes to arrive. Well, in order for ships to come in they must first be sent out – and with blessings and good plans. We are adapting the old ceremony to suit the times and place we now live it! In this ceremony, we will bless the `fleet’ and place our hopes and wishes of good fortune and success in the ventures we are starting as Spring approaches. We then set the ships to sail (some will be sent.. other larger models will be pulled back, so as not to litter river Thames)

2. Night of the Cradle- Birthday of Goddess Isis Ceremony

Thursday 16th July 2015 @ Embankment, Central London (Cleopatra’s Needle)

Birthday of Goddess Isis – July 2015 ritual in London

Our 3rd annual Celebration of The Night of the Cradle: Birth of Goddess Isis’ will take place on the New Moon (In watery sign of Cancer) in July 2015. We gather by the banks of river Thames (Cleopatra’s Needle, by Victoria-Embankment) for a special Ceremony in the evening…to mark the Night of the Cradle’ where Sky Goddess Nut gave birth to the Egyptian Goddess Isis. For July 2015,  we return to the original spot- The Egyptian themed `Cleopatra’s Needle’  with 2 large Sphinx – in Central London.

Outline: A decorative altar with Sky Goddess Nut and a concealed statue of Isis will be set up.  Element consecrations (incense, lantern, salt/water). Isis called by her many names! This will be a chant led by Mani and friends. Goddess Isis (statue) is revealed. Milk & flower Ceremony – all bath statue in milk, followed by offering of flowers. These are then offered to the river Thames.   Food & drinks blessed and shared.

3. Tamesa River of Souls (Halloween) & Full Moon Ritual

Tuesday 27th October 2015 @ Millennium Bridge area by river side, Central London

Tamesa Halloween Ritual 2015
Tamesa Halloween Ritual 2015

Every year, near Samhain (Halloween.. traditional day of honoring our ancestors) we hold a small ritual/ceremony by the river Thames in Central London. This year (2015), the tide is low in the evening on the night of the full moon ..of Tuesday 27th October’15. That is when we will be holding, `Tamesa River of Souls’ Halloween Ritual- right on the banks of river Thames.

Part of our ceremony involves creating a small altar on the sandy foreshores of Thames (at low tide!), lighting candles, placing any bones we find nearby. Some silent pagan prayers, blessing, consecrations, and a small picnic (feasting with the dead!).. and returning the bones back to the river immediately. On occasions, we throw coins in to the river, symbolic of payment to the `Ferryman’ who (Greek mythology) ferries dead souls to the underworld, and requires a small fee.

Birthday of Isis Ceremony (video of 2013 event)

In honour of the Birthday of Goddess Isis (which was historically celebrated on 17th July), we did river Thames based a ceremony last year (2013).  Here is a short video of that event which took place by Embankment, Central London (at the base of Cleopatra’s Needle!).

This year (2014) we are doing this ceremony & social by the river Thames in the Richmond area..  on saturday 19th July’14, for ease of every one to make it.

The Isis-Boat that was begun and briefly used in the Isis-Navigatum (Blessing of the Fleet) ceremony in March’14, has been developed further. It will be briefly floated in the river Thames at the end of the Ceremony.

Here’s the event blog.

Hail Thames-Isis (Tamesis!)

Thames-Isis Rituals in London (2013)

Thames-Isis rituals will be held  in central London this year (2013).  Here are some preliminary info art works created for them.

Thames-Isis (Tamesis) Rituals in London

We are planning to explore the mysteries and magic of the Goddess Isis in a series of rituals to be held by the banks of river Thames in London. (Tamesis is an old name of river Thames, and supposedly  means `Thames-Isis’).

Thames Isis Rituals 2013 www.PaganFrontiersofLondon.com
Thames Isis Rituals 2013 http://www.PaganFrontiersofLondon.com

Dates & Rituals:

Saturday 3rd March : Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony (Isidias Navigatum).  Ritual outline (tbc): A statue of the Goddess will be carried to the water, where flowers-wreathed women may offer mirrors so that she may see her beauty. Priests will pour milk on the sands from a pitcher shaped like Isis’s breast, then  sprinkle the statue with precious perfumes. As the final part of the ritual, a small replica boat will be filled with spices and sent (out to sea) as an offering to the Goddess Isis.

NEW date added:    7 th July’13.     Submerging Sekhmet : a 7-7 London protection ceremony (waterloo bridge area.    Meet by Cleopatra’s needle, Embankment, at 7pm. )

Wednesday 17th July: Birthday of Isis (Night of the Cradle). Sky Goddess Nut gives birth to Isis.-– (update)  This ritual will be a scaled down event on that evening by Thames.  And we’ll be providing additional resources for everyone to mark and celebrate it everywhere!  (or by your local river-sides!).

Saturday 16th November: (Full moon)  Quests of Isis: searching, mourning and the finding of Osiris.  (This is the `Samhain equivalent).

All Welcome to attend, to contact us and contribute with your creativity, knowledge & magic for these new explorations..

About this art/ photo

The above is a statue that the late Maureen Brown (Psychologist, Professional Counsellor, High Priestess of Wicca) gave me as a gift many years ago. It depicts a form of Osiris and his wife Isis.  I have used a backdrop of a view of the river Thames (looking to the west from the Millennium Bridge) for this graphics. The moon is a photo that I had taken and was added to this graphics – but here’s the thing .. there really was a full moon in this river view photo in that exact spot (but it was not detailed and rather small).  The statue was kept literally on the key boards of my laptop (with backdrop photo on screen) and lit by a table-lamp in just the right way to create the `moon light’.   The whole thing was then obviously photographed and re-worked digitally to create this finished art.  🙂

ps. The blue `space’ background in the top photo is also an art work I created (last year)..every pixel of it drawn by me!

Feel free to copy / share the art works – as long as you give due credit. Ta 🙂

Preface:

Somewhere between Magic, Religion & Science lies reality and life itself.

Yule Rites by Mani Navasothy 2012 - exploring the symbols, ceremonies and traditions of Winter Solstice rituals.
Yule Rites by Mani Navasothy 2012 – exploring the symbols, ceremonies and traditions of Winter Solstice rituals.

And Yule Rites (Winter Solstice Ceremonies) have always been about the Hope and celebration of Life, Light and renewal of Hope  – at the darkest hour.  And dare I say – the months leading to this moment have been getting darker, in real terms as well as on a personal level.  Like icebergs, huge chunks of my life have broken off and fallen into the cold Abyss.  It may be because of stellar influences – like the Uranus-Pluto oppositions that are with us on and off between 2012 to 2015, or a cumulative result of some intense Eclipse magical works I did.

Or perhaps, the World really is going through a major shift on 21st December 2012 – the supposed end date of the previous Mayan Calendar, and what we are all experiencing are those re-birth pangs!  Which brings us back to Winter Solstice – and rebirth of the Sun-child.

Included in its entirety are 3 Yule/Winter Rituals, which I had personally wrote and enacted in 2004, 2008 & 2011. So you are not just reading a book on Yule Rites, but have the choice of actually doing some rituals – and riding on the energy streams which have been created already by those rituals.  Photographs of those rituals & set-ups will be on slide show presentation on my websites, so you can take a look at what we did, and gain more ideas.

This particular project (Yule Rites) originally started as a Webinar to be broadcasted for December 2011, following on from our Halloween & Samhain webinar on  31st October 2011.  However, the Solar & Lunar Eclipses of November took much of my focus (that’s resulted in several Astrology Webinar, and 2 Books.. so far!) So I am pleased to finally complete the `Yule Rites’, albeit in a book form!  And guess what? As per the original idea of sharing knowledge openly in a Webinar, this book is initially free for any and all to download. And then it becomes available as an eBook for purchase on popular online portals.

What started out as a very short Guide, just a few pages to hand out on websites for new comers to Paganism at each seasonal festive time, has grown into what you see here. So I am not just pleased, but very pleased in deed.

As always, I’d be very happy to hear form you – comments & constructive criticisms, and even suggestions of what Guides & books you might like to see me publish. Under the Gaian Times Social Enterprise Initiative, we have plan to start publishing `your’ books too! So get writing!  It’s the perfect time for birth of new ideas and ventures!!

Best Wishes & Bright Stellar Blessings
