Photo: Jupiter & Venus in same frame (5th May2015 @ 22:17hrs gmt. S.London)

Just by chance I happen to glimpse a bright `star’ from my bathroom window..almost at low horizon in the west..and I knew instantly what it was..so ran out to garden with my Digital SLR ..and started clicking.. and then I looked to the SW sky and saw an equally bright object and knew ..that’s gotta be Jupiter.. Of course both were confirmed by me using my SKy-eye app on the mobile..(by pointing it / centering on object). So here we are..:-)

This blog shows 2 photos. Here are a few photos I took just hours ago (5th May 2015.. around 22:17hrs GMT) from my garden in South London area…in between fast moving clouds, using my DSLR (sony DSC-HX300).

This shot was taken (hand-held) using the 3D viewable function of the DSLR.

Jupiter (top left) Venus (bottom right) – Photo taken on 5thMay’15 @22:16hrs gmt from S.London (c)MN

This shot was taken using the `superior auto’ function (low light).

It’s notable that currently  Jupiter is at 13’41” Leo, and Venus is 27’17” Gemini.  These two planets are of course called the beneficial planets..  So to capture them both in one frame is a great thrill for me.. 🙂   (no trickery..  it’s why I didn’t even stamp a `copyright’ note on the photo..  lest anyone thought I `graphixed’ it 🙂

Jupiter NOW (photo)

I was out looking for the Geminids Meteor shower..and thought as it’s a clear sky, will take a photo of Jupiter. (well the last  time I tried catching a meteor on my compact digital ..it took me many hours and I got one clip of one meteo..so wasn’t going to do all that tonight..)

Good news is, even before I had set up my tripod, I saw a meteor shooting past.. and within about 5 minutes I had seen about 7..and made 3 wishes (just to be safe..the same wish three times..  rest of the views were just for joy 🙂 )

So took this photo of Jupiter…easily the brightest object as you can see.. (my own astro chart calculations and mobile app confirms it).  You can spot the Orion the Hunter to the right..  (and just start to see the glow of the moon to the right – not on this photo).

I;ve marked one of the photos to show the objects..

Time for Social change: Some Retrograde News

Social planets retrograde 2013In about 3 days dynamic, rebellious, creative but also chaotic and disruptive plant Uranus ..is about to go retrograde in the sign of Aries! It joins the other 2 – Neptune & Pluto – which are already retrograding in Pisces and Capricorn respectively.

What does it mean?  Well, quite a bit.

In astrology, we categorise the inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Moon and Sun) as personal `planets’, meaning their influences are rapid, and affect us personally.  Jupiter & Saturn are transpersonal planets, and influence the way we relate to one another.. and the outer planets – Uranus, Neptune & Pluto are Social / global planets.. They move much slower, and their influences / transits affect over longer time, and over all of humanity..   (generational influences!)

So when they all go retrograde, it means a lot of backwards looking, rethinking, re-planning, catching lost opportunities, finding errors and having the chance to correct them and so on.   Initially all these can and so feel like a lot of  unwanted change and pressure (stress!).  But the changes, if taken esoterically and on the chin, and worked through can result in far better harmonious living.. when those retrograde phases end and the planets go direct.

Now these ..each being a Social plant influence everyone on a collective level..  So when all are retrograding at the same time.. (for a good 2 months), that’s a lot of  influence and energy..  It’s not uncommon..  This happens every year..and for this year..it begins now!

Here are the time scales to be mindful of.

Uranus – Retrogrades-  from 18th July’13 to 18th December’13  (in Aries)

Neptune – already retrograding – from 7th June to 14th November’13 (in Pisces)

Pluto – already retrograding- from 18th April to 21st September’13 (in Capricorn)

You can see that the time between now (18th July) to 21st September’13, is when all 3 will be in retrograde motion..  That’s when the strongest influence will be!

Other planets retrograding

Saturn  – jut started to go Direct..and will stay that way for rest of 2013 (in Scorpio)

Jupiter – starts Retrograde on 7th November (in Cancer)

Mars – finished retrograde, so direct for rest of the year.

Venus – starts retrograde 22nd December’13 ( on Winter Solstice day…and covers the Christmas  2013 / New year 2014 period. It may not be a very social time!)

Mercury – currently retrograding, about to go direct on 21st July…but has another retro-period between 21st Oct-11th Nov’13.

I’ll cover these near the time for each one..  You can subscribe to this blog to keep up to date 🙂

Planetary transits through Aries – 12th March to 3rd May 2013

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Here’s a quick look at the various planets that are transiting or about to transit through the sign of Aries.  All the planets are always travelling – some slowly, some quite speedily- through the signs.. So this is nothing unusual. Because planets are in fact orbiting around the Sun, from our visual point of view, where ever the Sun tends to go, we see most of the inner planets going too. So when the Sun enters the Sign of Aries, we can expect that either in front or later, the others – Mars, Mercury, Venus – will follow. It so happens, that Uranus is already transiting through Aries..

Horoscope: Planets Through Aries March-May 2013
Horoscope: Planets Through Aries March-May 2013

As the planets transit through Aries, they continue to form aspects with other planets which are in other parts of the sky, and also with one another. It’s like a bunch of influential people travelling together on a tour bus around the country – lot of wheeling and dealing and conversations between them, but also once in a while each of them is going to make calls or contact with their networks outside – and sometimes they hear good things, and other times they get awkward phone calls and have to still deal with issues elsewhere.

Dates of when planets enter and leave Aries

Mars entered Aries on 12th March, and will leave by 20th April (~5 weeks stay).

Sun enters Aries on 20th March and will leave by 20th April (1 month stay).

Venus enters Aries on 22nd March, and will leave by 14th April (3 weeks stay).

Mercury enters Aries on 14th April, and will leave on 2nd May.  (2 weeks stay).

I’ve tabled the transits of these planets and grouped them by the planet that’s passing through Aries, and the interactions (aspects) it’s making with others.   In the 2nd table, I show the same interactions, but in date order..

I’ve given this much importance to Aries – because it’s the first sign of the zodiac, and heralds new initiatives, and also we are just coming into the Time of Aries (as the Sun starts to pass through Aries …for a month).   If time permits, I hope to do the same every month, for each of the signs..(Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, and so on..)

Do check THIS specific blog, as I will visit it regularly and be adding more information on each major aspect..(rather than do new posts).

Banners, particles & Bubble chambers

Finally got a new `theme’ sorted for my WordPress blog `quantumPhoenix’ – This theme has flexibility for background pic and banner…and here it is – a backdrop of `Stars’ that I created (from scratch), and the newly created `quantum phenix’ banner.. Just what I had always wanted it to look.. 🙂

It’s go the Phoenix bit (created from photos of a bonfire in garden), a cosmic `magic wand’ (that has stars, earth, Sun and moon) and of course the Quantum / atom bits..

Particles & Bubble chambers:

The spiral/lines are what comes up in  bubble chambers in particle detection systems – bit old – and the tracks are where high pressured `steam’ condenses ..as sub-atomic particles pass through them (and a magnetic field). Some particles – charged curve this way or that.. some that have no charge go straight…so we get straight lines.. 🙂    Actually this is a subject so close to my heart (particle physics , quarks, quantum, Higgs boson etc) that I’ll be writing on that in another post – when I have the time to enjoy writing it.

DrWho language of squiggle

My one annoyance on this matter is – ever since the `new DrWHO’ came back, they have been `using’ these symbols as the `language’ of planet Gallifrey. While it’s possible that such symbols can be used as a created language, I think if you are in a hurry, you’d write quick squigles…not complex particle decay patterns to express your thoughts, especially if Daleks etc are chasing you..right?   Hmm.  Ok, there ya go, I’ve got it out of my system.
