Issues faced by an esoteric Entrepreneur within magical communities
One of the ongoing strands of myths and misunderstandings, difficulties and despairs, appreciations and accusations – that I observe in the lives of any Spiritual, magical or Esoteric Enterprising person is this very matter!
In the Esoteric world, many are `taught’ or pressured into being `humble’ and there is also a big push towards being seen as non-materialistic. Too much Charisma can be interpreted as sleeziness. Self-Importance can be mistaken for Ego. Ambition is mistaken (often) for Greed!!
Where as in the enterprising & business realms, one has to show confidence, self-assurance, charisma, ambition. This is especially true to stand-alone self-employed Entrepreneurs. They have no one to stand on but their own tools, experiences and expertise. After all that is what they `sell’ – as a product or as a service to others.
The Esoteric Entrepreneur does not talk about other people, products or services (unless that is what he/she is selling).
The Esoteric Entrepreneur simply comes at it from a confident, self-assured, personal experience point of view.. he or she lives by example. He or she has to live by example, using the very products and services s/he is promoting and selling.
And as I said, this often mistakenly comes across as `Egotistical, Self-obsessed’.
It is not the Esoteric Entrepreneur – the one selling a crystal wand, a new age shop, a tarot reading, a self-help magic book or other such things – who needs to change. S/he already has. – in taking that brave step to make a living out of these subjects.
It is the Esoteric, pagan, holistic & magical communities that need to change – and start differentiating between these issues.
