We are gathering in Queen’s Woods, High Gate, on Bankholiday Monday 21st April 2025, to honour Earth Day – with a pagan picnic, Eco-magic and a drumming Circle. The central open space in Queen’s Woods has plenty of large logs to sit on and create a community circle.
Family friendly & all welcome: This is a family friendly event, so children with adult supervision are welcome (Note: Organisers can not take responsibility for kids). Our Eco-ceremony will be kept very basic and child-friendly too .. (see details below). Bring family & friends – as long as all attending are respectful that this is a pagan event with pagan themes.
Bring drums and other acoustic musical / percussion instruments and join in with our drumming, singing and chanting – that will take place on and off, as participants see fit. If you know of pagan chants and songs, feel free to come and teach it to us or just take the spot light and sing …
- NO Electronic music please. We discourage playing of music on mobile phones, amplifiers, speakers etc. The only music will be the ones we make sing, drum, chant our selves at this event .. 🙂
Eco-Ceremony:
We will hold a basic Eco-ritual lasting 15-20 minutes. It will include basic purification with incense & rattles, calling of Element guardians (Air, fire, water, earth), and animal spirit guardians, and an invocation to Gaia- Earth Mother. We will do some magic for Earth healing, world peace and well-being for all.
- Feel free to dress up in robes, capes, flower crowns, masks. Suggested themes are Dragons, Angels, Fairies, Nature spirits.
Duration : 2pm to 5pm. But there’ll be no set schedule. Come with the intention of relaxing & spending time in nature. Bring a blanket or ground sheet and some picnic food & drinks for your selves.
Venue / meeting point / directions :
Central clearing, Queen’s Woods, (Tube: HighGate on Northern line). Please observe woodland safety. Some paths can be slippery, gravels, sharp brambles etc. Those with walking stick / wheelchair are generally able to traverse the woods, but they must bring their own Carers or assistants

- From there you walk in, turn right at the bins, and walk few minutes staying on the left path, then turn left at slopes and walk few minutes till you reach central clearing. (watch out for mud & roots under foot).
- Entrance 2: This is by the Queen’s Wood Cafe. From there you’ll have to make your own way to central clearing. (5-10min walk)
Drug/ alcohol/ smoking policy:
Woodland witches events are 100% drug-free events. Wine as part of ceremony and picnic is fine. Smokers please be mindful of others who don’t like to inhale or are asthmatic. Thank you.
Safety / Children:
Parents & Guardians are responsible for their own children’s’ safety. Please be aware, there will be dogs in the field. There will be strangers. There will also be some lanterns & ritual items on altar – so do not let children play with such items.
Photography / Privacy:
People will be taking photos . We are in a public park, so total privacy can NOT be guaranteed. However, as a general safety, we ask you not to take any zoom photos of kids present, and to also NOT put any photos with kids on any social media. (Organisers may take few long shots for promotional purpose).
Please Bring (optional):
- Drums & Musical instruments.
- Wear capes, robes, cloaks, tribal attire, masks, flower crowns.
- Bring family & friends .
- Bring eco-magical banners & art works.
- Bring ritual items for altar
- Bring Picnic for your self, and some Food & Drinks to share if possible.
- Bring ground sheet / blanket or folding seats (for yourself).

Weather:
We can’t predict the weather but we’ve always carried an event. We’ll bring some large tarpaulin covers to stretch over trees if it’s raining. 🙂
History of Earth Day:
Earth Day 22nd April- has been celebrated and marked by people of the world for over 40 years (since 1971). It provides a focus for hundreds of initiatives and activities.. from Eco-based fundraising, environmental campaigns, creating educational activities for those unaware of Earth’s ecological & environmental problems.. to magical or spiritual ceremonies to connect with Gaia“ the earth goddess/ spirit!
