Hi all,
as ya know ..am a big science geek at heart! 🙂 And ever since I accidentally read Paul Davie’s book on Quantum / Particles (in my Advanced Level days at school.. 1988-ish) I have been hooked on the wonder of it all.. It’s one reason I had a `last minute change of heart’ from studying Engineering at Uni and going for Physics (applied to Oxford Uni…didn’t get A/L grades, so went for King’s College London (Uni) and finally finished the degree at Birkbeck College (thank Birkbeck for giving me a last chance!)
Some years ago, in my early `pagan awakening years’ I was at a Witchfest Event in Croydon Fairfields Hall (around 2003-4?) and gave a talk entitled `Quantum Magic’. I thought I’d be lucky to get 3-4 people in my talk. But the room was packed with about 30+ people..! The talk then focused around how us Science-interested magicians can use those ideas in our magical work.. ! People who were chemists, engineers and others listened to my talk. They said we should explore more. So I set up a yahoo e-group for it. Nothing much came of it, and I deleted that group. (then in 2004, I had differences of opinions with Witchfest organiser and left that community…).
But my interest in this field – both scientifically and magically has continued privately…in reading latest science journals, and using them in my own magical works. I think only 2 people knew what I was upto.. my sister , and a non-pagan friend in the civil service where I used to work (till 2004?).
About 2-3 years ago, at a Beltane Bash festival in London, I gave a new talk called `The God Particle’.. explaining how the mysteries of science is where us magicians can pluck ideas and manifest our magic! I touched on dark matter & dark energy as potential carriers or links to even psychic energies / powers. The idea being, if there are these elusive quantum-particles’ that carry various known forces, and rest of the force-fields are speculated and assigned hitherto undiscovered particles, there exists the possibility that similar ones may exist for carrying psychic forces or energies.. The fact that quantum mechanics suggests that observation affects results and position/location of particles ..to me suggests processes very similar to magic.. where the Will of the person affects outcome!!
Few years ago I became more serious about it all.. and started having the idea of writing it all down. I called it, `Quantum Magic’ of course 🙂 Even this blog `QuantumPhoenix.net‘ is an echo of my old username in an old pagan forum (Witchcraft.org run by Children of Artemis).
The book has been planned for release later in 2012, around the next set of Eclipses (as this first set of Eclipses in 2012 saw the launch of my book on other major personal work, `Eclipse Magic workbook’.
And so when I heard..few days ago (4th July’12) that the Higgs Boson had indeed been discovered (or rather statistical evidence for it has been confirmed to the highest certainty possible within experimental error parameters!)..I knew we have turned a corner.. not just for Science all over the Earth.. but on esoteric levels too. It is a sign that I personally have been `intuitively’ waiting for.
A word on this science-magic/religion conflict. No doubt many Scientists would distance themselves from others who believe in magic. But truth is, many Scientists who have given fantastic theories ..have all had some sort of esoteric or spiritual belief systems. Richard Feynman tended to spend time with tribes, playing his bongos; Einstein enjoyed travelling on light-beams (creative visualisation) that led to him developing his theories.. Benzene ring came about because the Chemist in question was day-dreaming of snakes that suddenly ate it’s own tail!!
So, never mind the fact that Cern announced it on 4th July (US independence day!) That’s political synchronicity 🙂 That this announcement comes just after a recent uranus-square-pluto & jupiter-square-neptune aspects astrologically (both point to radical changes, innovation, technological jump, elusiveness, fluidic matters etc)- is pure magic to me!
