The Fellowship of The Spring ~ London Water Pilgrimage (15th April’19)

Here is a marvelous magical event that I have just come across, and of course will be joining. – Mani

water.jpg

On 15th April, the opening day of International Rebellion ~

We will be walking the ‘royal route pilgrimage’ from the Tower of London to Westminster Abbey via various sacred places, springs and wells along the way.

This was the coronation route which was made by numerous monarchs over the ages. In these times we are in – we remember we are all Sovereign to the Earth, as she awakens our hearts to work in an allegiance with her, as we make this pledge of beauty with her on this day.

No one ever thinks that there are springs in this city, but yes there are literally hundreds, and some of the most iconic buildings of London are on top of them.

Join us as we walk this route together in prayer, music and song. Blessing and making offerings of beauty at various springs along the way from the Tower of London to Westminster Abbey ~ as we remember and give thanks to the waters together.
**************************************************
**PILGRIMAGE ROUTE: (3 miles)
Tower Hill > London Stone > St Paul’s Cathedral > St Brides Spring > Fleet Street Wells > Westminster Abbey
(see map in the below – for exact route)
map water
***************************************************
**START/WHERE:
~ We will gather at 10am, to start at 10:30am on Tower Hill, by Tower Pier (see pinned map for exact location).
~ Nearest Station: Tower Hill
~ We envisage the pilgrimage will take 4hrs. (We will break for lunch on the step of St Paul’s. To renew our energy.)

**BRING:
~ Waters from your local waterways & springs
~ Flowers & offerings that can go back to nature
~ Songs
~ Choirs
~ Instruments: sacred sound makers such as bells, rattles, singing bowls, drums, etc
~ Food and drink to eat along the way
~ Come dressed in Blue and/or Green if you can
**************************************************
This Pilgrimage for the Waters is aligned with Extinction Rebellion, which is calling attention to the great imbalances present on this planet and the need for united and immediate action on a global scale to correct these imbalances and to bring Earth back on a life-sustaining trajectory for future generations.

The 5th Global March for Elephants and Rhinos – Saturday 13th April’19 (London)

Join me and thousands of other supporters in a Global March for saving Elephants & Rhinos!  This is taking place on saturday 13th April’19 – all over the world…and there is one in London.  here are the details taken from their facebook page (link below).  -Mani

GMFER March for Elephants 13april2019

The 5th Global March for Elephants and Rhinos will take place on April 13th with cities around the world joining in a huge day of action for endangered wildlife.

You can join the facebook event for this (organised by group `Action for Elephants UK events’) using this link
https://www.facebook.com/events/626994967732777/

date: Saturday 13th April 2019
meeting point:
Cavendish Square, 4 Cavendish Square, London, United Kingdom
Meeting time: 11am.

Following blurb taken from facebook event organised by `Action for Elephants UK’
———
“GMFER2019 is timed to take place shortly before CITES Conference of the Parties (CoP18) in Sri Lanka on 23 May to 3 June. We will be calling for support for the CoP proposal to uplist elephants to Appendix I, the highest level of protection, and for the rejection of proposals to allow ivory trade and trade of the Southern White Rhino.

Our key domestic action will be to call for the government to ban the import of hunting trophies of endangered species to the UK. Around 2,500 gruesome trophies have been brought home by British hunters over the past decade – heads and other body parts of endangered wild animals including elephants, lions, zebras, hippos, giraffes, leopards – all killed for ‘sport’. Thousands of lions are raised on farms in South Africa for the brutal ‘canned hunting’ industry, where they are kept caged from birth and finally shot by trophy hunters. These cruel and barbaric practices continue to decimate already endangered species and drive them closer to extinction.

Trophy hunting is cruel and indefensible – it has no place in this day and age, when the ongoing ‘sixth extinction’ has already claimed 60% of the Earth’s fauna since 1970. We call on the government to take an unequivocal stand and permanently ban the import of hunting trophies from all endangered species.

The broader theme of the event is Save Our Wild World. Wild animals and their habitats are everywhere under threat. Without maximum protections by the global community and CITES, elephants, rhinos, lions, giraffes and other endangered megafauna will face certain extinction in the wild. Those protections include giving them Appendix I or II status, rejecting all proposals to downlist endangered species and reopen trade in ivory and other body parts, and getting countries to unite on banning hunting trophy imports.”

note from Mani (Organiser of London Woodland Witches meetup):

There are global marches taking place on this date all over the world. The London march is organised by `Action for Elephants UK events’ – who are known well to myself and my sister, as we have been supporters and participants at these GMFER marches since 2013. Poster shows 5 photos taken at the Marches in 2013 and 2016.

From 7.30pm, gather outside the Green area of Tate Modern Gallery (main doors). We’ll walk down to the banks of Thames..once majority have gathered, and do this ceremony. If you are late, just find the steps, walk down to river bank, and join us. We’re usually under the concrete over-hang/ sheltered space.

What happens:

During set-up, attendees tend to talk to one another and socialise. Some help the facilitator with set up of altar and allocating rital roles.    Mani then has a run-through. explaining the key features of what happens, and starts ritual.    Ritual usually  last about 60 mins to 90 mins.  Afterwards, people take photos of altar and themselves with altar etc. Some people leave for home. Others stay behind to socialise. We tend to go back up to street level, to the grassy green area outside Tate Modern Gallery and socialise/ share food & drinks.. If it’s raining, we just go to the nearby Pub within sight.  The whole event wraps up around 10.30pm.
Thames & Tides:

Our rituals tale place on the actual river bank…just few meters away from the water. We organise these Thames-rituals after checking Port of London authority Thames Tide time tables.. to take place at low tide.. (At high tide the entire river bank is under many meters of water!!).

Safety:
The steps are slippery. bank of Thames after previous tide will be full of new things and sharp objects. Take extreme care with your own health & safety. You are responsible for your safety.
**No children allowed**
**Unfortunately the location is not suitable for anyone with walking disabilities**

• Please dress appropriate for weather! (we carry on Rituals regardless of weather).
• Please bring food & drinks to share ( bread & cheese / humus are a good start) and any soft drink/wine that you like to share with others in circle.
• a torchlight is a good idea. Feasting/ sharing food & Drinks:

Isidias Navigatum 2019: Goddess Isis Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony (Richmond, London)

This annual ceremony was held at the start of the Spring time in Ancient Egypt, to gain the blessings of Goddess Isis upon the ships and boats (Fleet) – so that they may go forth, find commerce, resources and wealth and bring them back.

Isias Navigatum - march 2019

This is a family friendly day-time ceremony by riverside. We will bless the `fleet’ and place our hopes and wishes of good fortune and success in the ventures we are starting as Spring approaches. We then set the ships to sail (some will be sent.. other larger models will be pulled back, so as not to litter river Thames).

Fee: £5 (£3 concessions). Children under 16 – FREE.

Ritual outline :

A statue of the Goddess will be carried to the water side. Women may offer mirrors so that Goddess Isis may see her beauty. We will pour milk on the banks then sprinkle the statue with precious perfumes & flowers. As the final part of the ritual, a small replica boat(s) will be filled with spices and other magical items, and placed in the river as an offering to the Goddess Isis. Smaller paper boats may also be placed in the river and let go off..

Bring your own small boats! Be it paper boats or small scale models – to either sail them on the river Thames afterwards, or to symbolically place them on our altar during ritual, to gain the blessings of Isis for your own ventures ahead in 2019.

meeting point:

Please gather by the Hollyhock Cafe , between 2.00pm to 2.20pm. (address: Hollyhock Cafe, Terrace Gardens, Petersham Road, TW10 6UX. )

We will cross the road to the riverside for ceremony, set up Altar on the model boat (group effort) and begin ceremony.

At the end of the ceremony our `ships’ will be set sail followed by Feasting. We expect to be back at station by 5pm .. and visit a cafe or pub to socialise (in warmth).

**Please wear absolutely sensible shoes, warm & water poof cloths** .. Our rituals go ahead whatever the weather..

All are Welcome to attend these .

Please bring Food & drinks to share. It can be a bottle of wine, soft drinks, hot drinks (in a flask), short eats, snacks, bread, butter, cheese, humus, cakes, salads, pasta and so on.

Stag-Watch 2018 & Wand Making in Richmond Park (London)

Deer rutting (mating) season is upon us between September – October, and we return with our woodland walk in Richmond Park, for Stag-Watch, making magical wands & doing a discrete consecration ceremony!

**for safety reasons, please read this event info section FULLY**

Woodland witches Stagwatch 2018 & wand making

This is a non-intrusive free-flow exploratory walk.. of 2-3 hours, spotting deer. We’ll also be looking out for suitable gifts from the Earth .. small twigs or branches – to make our own magical wands!! And for those willing to stay a bit longer into the evening.. we’ll be doing a wand-consecration ceremony..!

Many of us Witches & pagans worship the Horned God.. (Cernunnos – Lord of the wild Beasts) and Ellen – antlered Goddess. so here is a woodland event to get intune with all that, as well as create a magical artefact of your own (wand).

Facilitator – Mani – has been working with empowering Hern (Horned God) energies and been running a private ritual group called `Hern’s Tribe’ since 2004 (It’s the origins of all this `Woodland Witches meetup group’).

Fee/ contribution: £5 suggested.

The plan (approx):

We like to be organic with these new walks that we are organising.. These are not formal rituals but social walks & explorations – with practical magical & shamanic elements naturally integrated. So please do arrive with plenty of time allowed for this, fully prepared with right clothing/boots, and some essential food & drinks/water packed. A walking stick helps..but no worries.. It’s easy to find one in the woods within minutes of getting there.

1. We’ll meet at Richmond station foyer coffee shop.. (1.00pm). Gather all..Take bus to Richmond Gate. (stop `American University’ then 5 min walk).

2. At Richmond Gate (1.30pm) we’ll gather everyone – including those coming by cars (free car park inside Richmond park – please make your own arrangements but come meet us by the gate).

3. Start our exploratory walking from Richmond Gate. We’ll check out some beautiful Oak trees (some are hollow and can accommodate a human inside ..quite magical). We will not intrude on any Trees that are fenced up for their own protection..

4. Along the way we’ll collect small twigs suitable for shaping into wands. There will be breaks (bring snacks and drink for your self). We’ll be stopping often to observe stags and take photos , tuning in etc.

5. After a few hours , we’ll find a suitable place for settling down to make Wands. The follow up with a wand consecration rite including Ellen (Horned Goddess) and Cernunnos (Horned God) as deities.

6. Stags rutting intensifies at dusk onwards. So as we walk back to gates/ exit, we may stop for more explorations.

7. Weather: Unless it’s severe rain, we’ll go ahead with this event. So look out for notice in comment section on the morning of the event for (onl for any postponement).

8. We’ll take bus back to station. At Richmond town centre, we’ll probably stop over for a few drinks / snack / pub.. and continue socials.

***Those who wish to leave early may do so any time during the whole event. Just make sure you know the way back***

Children/ Dogs :

Due to the exploratory and magical nature of this event, we regret that children only allowed at the strict discretion of any parents / guardians who must accompany children. Dogs to be kept on leash at all times a sper park rules for safety of Deer, people and dogs themselves, as Deer are aggressive and can attack if provoked.

Walking disability:

Due to the rough terrains, and potential need for brisk walk (moving away from any rutting stags), and end point being 2 hours away from exits, we regret that unless you are able to keep up, we can not provide special attention, or accommodate anyone with walking or other disabilities. We are very sorry for this.

What to wear:

Pleeeeeeeese! Please wear absolutely warm and sensible cloths/ coats/ rain proof/ boots etc!! It may start out sunny and hot but it gets cold quickly.. There’ll be midges and insects.. so cover up ankles with socks.. wear trainers or boots…(No slippers). You feel hardy.. but when you start shivering or feel uncomfortable inside ..it still shows and makes rest of the people feel uneasy. This is not a survival walk with Bear Grylls.. It’s an enjoyable comfortable magical social walk with csy pagans!! 🙂

What to bring?

Obviously we’ll be walking for few hours with breaks inbetween. So only carry essentials, and low weight items.. or you’ll get tired and won’t enjoy the event. Pretend you are the Fellowship of the Ring.. chasing Orks 🙂

That said.. do bring some of these for your own enjoyment:

  • -Camera to take pictures of rutting Stags (from safe distance)
  • -Hot flash of drinks for yourself
  • -small ground sheet / blanket to sit on (optional)
  • -Some food & drinks (extra if you feel like sharing)
  • – any magical items you like to carry with you safely and discretely (no big swords)
  • – walking stick (optional but helps) – note: this is an additional aid for those with No walking disabilities.
  • -Torch light ( for later if staying in the evening).
  • -insect repellant sprays (optional)
  • – lantern (optional for later)
  • – carving/ craft knife (optional for wand making).

Mani (facilitator) will provide some ground sheet, bring small craft knives. and a minimum ritual tool kit for doing a small ceremony later. But he’ll also be wanting to travel light and might need to run away from Oarks..or rutting Stags (as has happened before)!

Safety

Rutting stags are fiercely territorial and will be gloating their own powers against other stags. The key thing is to stay out of their way.. Never accidentally get in between 2 or more rutting stags ! They don’t care much about humans…but in their aggressive states, they may not tell differences between a human and a stag-threat and may get chasing you. (as it had happened to me once!)

Another matter is to be less intrusive..and not spook them. After all Richmond park is a wild life sanctuary for them.

If you are not comfortable working safely with a craft knife, please refrain from doing so. Some can be sharp and cut deep, if not careful. We’ll have small plasters ..that’s about it.

Disclaimer

Obviously we’ll be going in search of the Deers/ stags…and it’s highly likely we’ll bump into their territories sooner or later.. But we have no control of the wild animals..and sometimes they migrate to far away sections of the park.

Bright Blessings . `May Hern protect us’
