River Thames Blessing Ceremony (3rd Jan2016)

Dear all.. Happy New Year!
Let’s start the year with a bang.. some magical work for the City, and then a jolly celebration!!

This is a blend of 2 events – my own `River Thames Blessing’ (literally by the river banks..) and then, attending the Lions Part annual event `12th Night Celebrations’.

1. Blessing of the Thames   (12pm to about 1.30pm)

We’ve been dong river-thames based rituals since 2006 (check our www.Tamesa.info for records). In 2015, we did NOT do the `Tamesa River of Souls Halloween’ (but did do the Isis rituals earlier).
I wanted to shift the emphasis…and decided that `Blessing the river’ is the way to go…for us Londoners.. cos the `River runs through our city’ 🙂 So join me around 12noon….for a very friendly and short `river blessing ceremony’ –

Details: Please get to Millennium Bridge (St.Pauls side).. and meet us ..at the beginning of the Millennium Bridge (end of `Peter’s Hill’). We’ll then walk down to the river banks (slippery… so do this at your own risk) for the ceremony.

ps.  Low tide is at 1.33pm..  so we’ll be perfectly safe on the river banks just before that..!

Directions:

Nearest tube:  BlackFriars station or Mansion House. Then walk about 10minutes along Queen Victoria Street (one comes from left, other from right) to `Peter’s Hill’ (name of a small road).  and head to Millennium Bridge.

2. Bankside 12th Night Celebrations.   (2pm onwards)

This is an annual event facilitated by the Theatre company `Lionspart’ (in Autumn they run the `October plenty’ where we actually get to go into Shakespear’s Globe Theatre!).

Here’s some extracts about this event..
1. Holly Man arrives by boat along Thames.
2. The Ban Wassails – various blessings
3. The Mummers play (in the street )
4. Then then “lead the people in procession through the streets to the historic George Inn in Borough High Street for a fine warming up with Storytelling, the Kissing Wishing Tree and more Dancing.”

It’s all friendly and great fun.. (Just wrap up very warm..and bring raincoat in case in is a bit wet! This is England!!).

If you are joining only for this..(it’s a public event.. we are just attending it..) you can go ahead to the Globe Theatre area..or join us for river Blessing..and then continue to hang out with us..
